Matching Machines: Cars and Watches

If there’s one match made in mechanical heaven, it’s got to be cars and watches. While one is large, noisy, and powerful and the other is small, discreet, and precise, both these inventions have long fascinated people who admire them. Both car and watch enthusiasts are passionate about their hobbies—appreciative of both the technical and aesthetic components of these beloved machines.

Since many car lovers are also watch lovers, it comes as no surprise that automobiles have often influenced watch designs. Take a closer look at the watch market and you’ll see many big brand name watches partnering up with renowned carmakers. Breitling for Bentley watches, Hublot Big Bang Ferrari watches, Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX Aston Martin watches, Parmigiani Bugatti watches, and Baume & Mercier Shelby Cobra are just a few that come to mind.

However, many of the watches listed above carry the price tag of an actual car! So we’ve come up with a much, much more affordable option to show your love of an iconic car. Taking one of the most beloved cars in the world, the DeLorean DMC-12, as inspiration, our DMC watches are clearly made for DeLorean—and car fans—everywhere.

DMC Watches’ Live the Dream Collection

Our newest collection at DMC Watches is the Live the Dream lineup. With three brand new timepieces, the Live the Dream is a stylish way to flaunt your appreciation for the legendary DeLorean car. We believe these to be not only one of the most unique watches but also one of the most cool watches under $200.

Just like the DeLorean DMC-12 car, the Live the Dream watches sport stainless steel case bodies, along with the choice of a matching stainless steel bracelet, a leather band, or a silicone strap. Housed within the 49mm steel cases are dials that are noticeably inspired by the car. There are the horizontal stripes running across the dial, which are a direct homage to the famous front grilles of the DeLorean. This is followed by running seconds subdial at 6 o’clock designed to look like the wheels of the famed sports car. Plus, the overall look of the face of the watch is reminiscent of a car’s speedometer. Turn the watch around and you’ll see our greatest tribute to the car—a sketch of the DeLorean with its signature gull-wings wide open.

Although the DeLorean DMC-12 was only produced for two short years well over 35 years ago, its legacy continues to live loudly and proudly thanks to the hoards of DeLorean devotees all around the world. And our DMC Watch collection is our way to carry on the car’s spirit of avant-garde design and rebellious nature.
